Papa Large

The following are the best, 12 of about 50, Polaroid photos from James, who calls (called) himself "Papa Large."
Not sure if he died, or an ex was pissed, but many of his belongings were thrown about the sidewalk right outside my front door. After a few days, I took the begrudging luxury of cleaning it up, and, though making a packette of stamps out of the raw deal, I also picked up the photo album to thumb through.
In the pictures within, it looks as P-Large was documenting his first year of college in 1993. The photos make it seem like he had a fun time, which involved a lot of girls, but with how I came across his memento, I hope he is okay today.
I hope this post to be a meditation on how easily some can throw people away.

For Real!?

I went to the corner store last night, which used to be called Papa’s, but was recently renamed, to grab a sandwich.
I ordered my usual - lettuce, cheese, tomato on a roll, and normal condiments - when a girl behind me spoke up, “You're a vegetarian?”
“Yeah,” I lazily shot back.
“Hmm. Gotta try that some time.”
I didn’t want to preach, but I did say, “You should.” Then, I suddenly felt as if it was okay to share with her a little part of me, and go into my usual quasi-spiritual bullcrap about not eating animals, but she jetted in, “A sandwich with no meat, but all that other stuff? I mean, I know what cheese and bread taste like, but lettuce and tomato?”

Came Into Old Money

I lent a friend my copy of Howard Bloom's The Lucifer Principle, which I first, and only, read in 2007.
While she was flipping through the book, as I explained its synopsis it opened as if a pop-up book, to reveal I - or someone else - had placed a few treasures within it.
There was one postcard from south Florida's monument to forbidden love, Coral Castle; another postcard of Mexican wrestler El Santo; and one, crisp, uncirculated and unfolded five dollar bill from 1950 (before they began to add the motto "In God We Trust").
Why was it was placed in that book after 2007?
I have no idea.

Welcome

First post, and we are already off to a good start.
